James Island

Bordering Charleston Harbor to the east and flanked by the Stono and Folly Rivers, this historic sea island is laced with tidal creeks and stunning water views. Close to the city, close to the beach with all the modern conveniences of a true suburb. Good schools, restaurants, parks and plenty of boating activities make for easy coastal living. An abundance of quality neighborhoods provide housing choices to suit any taste and budget. The islands rich history stems from a long relationship with the city, going back to the days when sailboats delivered milk to the peninsula city and further back to the Civil War battles and the British crossing to invade Charleston during the Revolution. On the lighter side, talk show host Stephen Colbert attended Stiles Point Elementary here along with his ten brothers and sisters.. still a great public school!
